They deal with current professional topics of high interest which fall within the scope of the journal. They should be organized by recognized experts in the field and attract articles of the highest quality. Special issue proposals are welcome at any time of the year and should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief (email can be found on the journal website).

Proposals

Special issue proposals should be submitted by the Special Issue Lead Guest Editor and must include the following:

Suggested title for the special issue (should not exceed 10 words)

Proposed objectives and scope, outlining the intended focus of the special issue and a list of topics to be covered. Topics in Special Collections must be of high current interest and broadly consistent with the scope of the journal (please read the scope of the journal given on the website).

A list of 2-4 guest editors who will manage the special issue with the lead guest editor, including their name, email, affiliation, and a brief biography (1 paragraph) of each guest editor. A resume or curriculum vitae should also be included. The guest editorial team should be geographically dispersed as much as possible to ensure maximum dissemination and recognition within the scientific community.

An open call for papers will be considered, but the topic area should be “hot topic” and considered strong enough to attract a reasonable number of submissions, yet narrow enough to maintain a strong focus for the special issue.

The proposal should also include:

6 concise keywords which reflect the key themes of the collection

A proposed timeline and schedule which includes:

Deadline for submission (3 months from an initial Call-for-Papers)

First round of review (3 months after submission deadline)

First papers published (3 months after the first round of review)

Proposals should meet all the above requirements and should be written in good English. Proposals that do not meet these criteria will not be considered. Please note that guest editors may not have more than 1 active Special Collections proposal at a time.

All proposals are subject to approval following discussion of the proposed special collection by the journal's Editorial Board. If approved, a call for papers for the special collection will be issued and posted online.

Guest Editors are permitted to contribute a maximum of 4 papers to their Special Collection. Of these 2 articles will be exempted from the regular open access publication charges of the journal. Any paper submitted by a Guest Editor will be handled by an Editorial Board member.

Peer review

Guest editors will process the submission and find reviewers before making recommendations to the editor in Chief.

Prospective Guest Editors should familiarize themselves with the journal scope.

2024-03-22T12:36:25+00:00
